EXPERIENCE

As a co-founder and Managing Partner of KTLC, Kelly has overseen and conducted the research, acquisition, and management of over 25,000 tax certificates throughout Florida and Colorado since early 2009. Over the same time frame he has been an active participant in tax deed auctions throughout the state of Florida, where he and his partner Joseph Schlitt have successfully acquired title to dozens of commercial and residential properties for themselves and the private investment partnerships they manage under KTLC.

Kelly also holds an active real estate license in Florida with Coldwell Banker Commercial. This position provides the various real estate partnerships managed by KTLC a platform upon which to dispose of real property that they acquire. Kelly’s transaction experience spans all types of commercial real estate.

His industry specific acumen has led to consulting and advisory partnerships with other private equity funds and institutional investors in the distressed debt arena. He provides business consultation on complex situations typically involving Community Development District bonds (CDDs), tax lien certificates and private finance in the context of large scale planned developments and commercial projects.

In the not-for-profit arena, Kelly serves as Treasurer of the Indian River Land Trust (IRLT), a non-profit organization that promotes the preservation, conservation and improvement of Indian River County's natural resources and special places for the benefit of the general public and future generations. Through his term as Treasurer, the Land Trust has acquired over 900 acres of environmentally sensitive lands along the Indian River Lagoon that it has put into conservation.

Kelly’s previous position was serving as Managing Director of Kite Properties, LLC, a real estate development and investment company. As Managing Director, Kelly developed and managed a portfolio of over $30 million in commercial real estate assets. Kelly’s family is rich in real estate tradition. In addition to Kite Tax Lien Capital and Kite Properties, the Indianapolis branch of the Kite family founded and manages Kite Realty Group Trust (KRG on the NYSE) and Paul Kite Company, both leading commercial shopping center developers and owners in the Eastern United States and Texas.
